Spinnin’ a web

It has been a while since I really enjoyed DJing. Often it feels a bit monotonous, trying to appeal to the crowd, get them dancing. I don’t often DJ first shift either; I usually don’t enjoy it since there are more beginners and what I feel is less appreciation for the music. Last night was different. It began slowly with some classics, then it took shape. I sought out tunes which bristled with energy, drove hard riding rhythms. I didn’t play for the dancers, I shaped the room with sound and the dancers responded. It brought me closer to the dancers and hopefully it brought the whole room together.

Rarely did I think DJing was work, but I put everything I could into that set. It paid off. The room was jumping. It was the best set I’ve spun. Definitely an experience I can learn from when it comes to DJing, when it comes to many things. Check out the set list here.
